Good Morning Britain was hit with a major shake-up when one main broadcaster was noticeably absent from the morning breakfast show.

The hit news programme returned for its first instalment of the week, but things were looking rather different to normal.

From Monday to Wednesday each week, Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley team up to present viewers with the top headlines of today.

But during Monday’s visit (August 28) to the ITV studios, much-loved star Kate Garraway stepped in for Susanna Reid over the Bank Holiday Monday.

As expected, fans of the long-running show had plenty to say about her absence, with many admitting they were disappointed by her absence.

One user penned: "What's Garraway doing on here? Monday should be a Ranvir day in the absence of Susanna! #gmb."

Another echoed: "Susanna has a cracking holiday regime 10 weeks + Bank Holidays #GMB."

A third echoed: "Is Susanna on her ten week long summer holiday? #gmb."

It comes after the 52-year-old broadcaster confirmed the death of her friend Suki Thompson just weeks after she made an appearance on the breakfast show.

Last month, Suki appeared on the news programme to open up about her melanoma diagnosis which is a form of skin cancer.

The 56-year-old – who informed viewers at the time that she may only have days left to live – was praised by the TV presenter at the time for her "resilience" and "endless and inspiring positivity".

Throughout the show, she raised awareness for the condition and urged members of the public to wear SPF while she promoted fundraising efforts.
