EastEnders Heather Peace praises co-stars after begging bosses not to kill Eve

EastEnders' Heather Peace has praised "sweet" co-stars Navin Chowdhry and Aaron Thiara, after the trio shot terrifying scenes in which they tried to kill her character Eve.

Fans of the BBC soap were gripped as Nish (Navin) discovered Eve's affair with his wife Suki (Balvinder Sopal). He whacked her over the head with a wine bottle and stuffed her into his car boot, with plans for him and his son Ravi (Aaron) to kill her and bury her body in the woods.

Eve managed to get away after talking Ravi out of murdering her and appears to have fled Walford. But as there are rumours that she pleaded with EastEnders bosses not to kill off her alter ego, some people think she will be back.

After filming the dramatic scenes, the actress shared a snap of her sitting in the car boot and smiling alongside Navin and Aaron, and another of her hugging Aaron. "Happier times in between takes in the car boot!" she said.

"Two wonderful fellas that I had the privilege to work with on this week’s episodes. I know it’s hard to get into the headspace playing a villainous role, particularly if you’re as sweet as this pair!

"I think they both needed a cuddle more than me tbf," she added. Heather recently addressed rumours about whether she had asked soap bosses to keep Eve alive, explaining that she did make "a suggestion".

Opening up on Suzi Ruffell’s podcast Out, she said: “It’s sort of got blown out of proportion in the sense that it's, it's certainly not contractually binding. I made a suggestion.

"What I did was bring up the tropes, which is (gay women on television) are either psychos or they die. I just pointed this out to the producers, who weren’t aware of the tropes. Why would they be? Because you look into it, you know.”

She went on: "They were like, ‘Is that really a thing?’ I am like, ‘Yes, there’s literal actual articles written on it if you want to just have a look. It’s absolutely fine if there’s no more stories for the character, if you don’t want me here any more, but I’m just asking, I'm just asking if it’s possible not to kill her'."
