Former Big Brother star Chanelle Hayes opened up about her depression after being trolled online.
In a powerful new photoshoot, the now 35-year-old is ready to stand up to the cruel comments she has endured over the years.
In an empowering photo shoot for OK! magazine Charlene opened up about her struggles, from the confidence-shattering slurs she received via social media, to her fluctuating weight.
“When I went on Big Brother, I was due to start university the month after it finished and I genuinely thought I’d still go back to normal. But it didn’t happen,” Chanelle told New Magazine.
The TV star said following her time on the show her life drastically changed and was a “complete whirlwind” but this was before social media giants including Twitter and Instagram became global phenomenons.

Chanelle found herself caught crossfire when people began to slam her appearance on those social media platforms.
“They would say my body is ‘disgusting’ and ask what happened to me – just awful things really,” she says. “I used to reply to them, but I think it made things worse. I’d spend hours talking to these people. Then I’d get angry… it would really bother me.”
In a bid to shine a light on the vicious world of trolling, Chanelle posed for photos with the horrific insults scrawled over her body, from “greedy” to “attention seeking”.
“Having these words on me gives people a slap back to reality and makes them realise they do need to watch what they say,” she commented.
