A woman has told how her older sister demanded she postponed her wedding so she could get married first – but she isn't even engaged.
The bride-to-be explained how her sibling became angry with her after setting the date and announcing the big news at a family dinner.
But her sister isn't even dating anyone and says the reason why she must wait is down to their age.
To make matters worse, her parents are "bombarding" her with messages and phone calls with reasons why she must cancel their big day.
She took to Reddit to ask for some help.
"The problem started at a family dinner when we announced to everyone that we're engaged," the woman wrote.
"My older sister was very upset. She didn't accept the fact that I was going to get married first. My older sister pulled me aside and asked me to postpone the wedding until she could get married first.
"She thinks that being the oldest, she should get married first."
But she is holding firm – and won't have her big day cancelled.
"I said no, that I wasn't going to do that because it wasn't fair to me or my fiancé," she added in the post.
"She doesn't even have a fiancé and I don't want to have to wait until she finds someone, spend time with that person, be asked to marry, get engaged, get married so that I can get married.
"My older sister started to cry and say that it would be very humiliating for her if I married first and that it would be like destroying her.
"Now my parents and many of my family members are bombarding me with messages and calls asking me to cancel the engagement."
Fellow users offered their sympathy – and said her family are in the wrong.
"Your sister and parents are being ridiculous," one wrote.
"This is so weird," another user added.
