You need to see Cat Deeley with waist-length ‘warrior’ braids

Cat Deeley may not have presented Gladiators, but she’s certainly channelling the 90s entertainment show with a new hair transformation that sees her swap her trademark bouncy blonde tresses for waist-length “warrior” braids.

The updated look is all for a new season of So You Think You Can Dance, the American Fox series Cat presents. In fact, she’s been a presenter on the show since series two in 2006 – quite the commitment.

The 45 year old has tried out a host of glam looks during her 16-year stint on the talent show, but this is her most dramatic style yet, we think.

Cat’s enviable tresses have been transformed with the help of two extra-long plaits which reach all the way down past her waist. The braids are more intricate than your standard three-piece crisscross, featuring a fishtail-like design. We imagine it took her hairstylist hours to create the effect!

“Tonight’s vibe is Joan of Arc meets Warrior Princess. It’s just about that time for a new episode of @DanceOnFox! Tune in shortly at 9/8c to @FoxTV,” Cat captions the series of stunning snaps uploaded to her Instagram grid.

Fans are loving her look, with plenty taking to the comment section to tell the star how amazing she looks with a different hairstyle.

“This is SO FAB,” says one, while another adds: “This look took the cake ladies!!!”

A third writes: “Absolutely stunning as always Cat.”

Cat also tagged her hair and makeup artists in the snap to thank them for their work on her look. Her hairstylist, Jen Loura, hasn’t yet explained how she managed to create the intricate braids, but she has recently posted about another one of Cat’s SYTYCD looks.

“Did you see tonight’s @danceonfox!! @catdeeley serving up 90s supermodel feels in all of her glory!!” Jen captions a snap of Cat serving up a Kate Moss-worthy bouncy blow-dry and sultry stare.

Speaking of the 90s, Cat isn’t the only celeb currently being inspired by vintage supermodels when it comes to hair and makeup. TOWIE star and country singing sensation Megan McKenna also recently took a leaf out of the 90s stylebook for a hair transformation of her own.

Just a few hours after asking her 2.5 million Instagram followers, “Do I get a fringe? That is the question,” via Stories, the 29 year old confirmed, “Erm. I did it,” sharing a grid post with several snaps of a new wispy fringe.

90s, 00s – we love all of the retro looks making a comeback.
