  • MORE ON COVID WARNING

The Gunners statement continues: “We all hope there will be no 'second wave' but we also need to accept that is one of the many uncertainties ahead of us and plan accordingly.

“Over recent years we have consistently invested in additional staff to take the club forward but with the expected reduction of income in mind, it is now clear that we must reduce our costs further to ensure we are operating in a sustainable and responsible way, and to enable us to continue to invest in the team.

“Our aim has been to protect the jobs and base salaries of our people for as long as we possibly can.

“Unfortunately, we have now come to the point where we are proposing 55 redundancies.”

  • JOBS HAVE TO GO

Arsenal have confirmed that they are proposing to make 55 redundancies as part of cost-saving measures, due to the impact of coronavirus.

The Gunners released a lengthy statement, which says:“It is now clear that we will be facing more significant and longer-lasting reductions in our revenue than we all hoped.

“Current indications are that we will not have fans back at Emirates Stadium for the start of next season and fans will only be able to return in limited numbers after that. The global economic projections are also very negative.

“This will impact the disposable income of our fans, the money corporate clients have to spend on hospitality and sponsorship, and the ability for broadcasters to invest in TV rights.”

  • BOAT SHIPPED OUT

Jerome Boating looks set to leave Bayern Munich this summer – with the Bundesliga champions “eager” to offload him.

The Bavarians almost flogged the German ace in January, when the Gunners were said to be keen on a deal, but he stayed put to provide back-up in defence.

Arsenal club bosses were reportedly reluctant to seal a deal for the German defender in January due to concerns over his fitness and £196,000-a-week wages.

Despite having seven centre-backs on their books, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu have identified their backline as their main weakness.

  • DOG DAYS AREN'T OVER

Mikel Arteta has become the latest high-profile name to invest in a guard dog to protect his home from raiders.

SunSport exclusively revealed in May how many footballers are purchasing guard dogs after Tottenham star Dele Alli’s house was broken into by knife-wielding thugs.

The Arsenal boss has been snapped posing next to a Dutch Shepherd, which has been provided by Elite Protection Dogs.

According to the Daily Mail, the 38-year-old forked out £20,000 on the canine to protect his family from intruders ahead of the FA Cup final win over Chelsea.

Elite Protection Dogs – an ‘exclusive dogs for exclusive people’ service – also sold Arteta’s former team-mate Jack Wilshere a dog two weeks ago.

  • BRONZE FOR YOUNG BUK

Starlet Bukayo Saka has finished third in Arsenal's player of the season award, as the club counts down the top three.

In all competitions, the 18-year-old has four goals and 11 assists.

What a breakthrough season it has been.

  • OH MY WORD

Andre Arshavin is a dead ringer for Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

The midfielder used to Excel for Arsenal but his latest Instagram post had fans comparing him to the Microsoft genius rather than discussing his football talent.

  • OFF SCOT FREE

Arsenal target Ryan Fraser has been offered a contract worth around £55,000 a week by Crystal Palace.

The Scottish winger, 26, is a free agent, having left Bournemouth before the restart in June.

The former Cherries ace was reportedly seeking a move to a bigger club and a deal of more than £100,000 a week.

It is understood Bournemouth were willing to offer Fraser a more lucrative, long-term deal but he decided to see his contract down.

He also rejected a short-term extension to play in the final nine matches of the season.

  • KIE CUTTING

Kieran Gibbs is set to be offloaded by West Brom as Slaven Bilic gets set to cut his squad down.

The former Arsenal left-back, 30, is one of three players whose futures are at risk.

Kenneth Zohore and Oliver Burke are also at risk of being sold by the Baggies, according to the Telegraph.

  • GOING, GOING, GUEN

Unai Emery is hoping to reunite with Matteo Guendouzi at Villarreal after the French midfielder fell out with Mikel Arteta.

The final straw for Guendouzi appears to be when he goaded Brighton’s Neal Maupay over his salary.

The 21-year-old has a reported Achilles tendon problem, but Mikel Arteta is understood not to be impressed with his temperament.

Emery signed Guendouzi for the Gunners from Lorient in 2018 and he impressed at the start of his Emirates career, but this season has been a difficult one for the highly-tipped youngster, whose career appears to be at a crossroads.

According to Foot Mercato, Barcelona have also looked at the midfielder.

  • NO JACK RUSSELL

Former Arsenal star Jack Wilshere has become the latest Premier League star to get a guard dog after worries over his house being burgled.

The West Ham ace, 28, has bought a fully trained guard dog after a spate of burglaries on Prem stars' houses.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has done the same for his home, acquiring the pooch from Elite Protection Dogs.

  • FLAG IN THE GROUND

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang showed his love for Arsenal after shouting “London is f***ing red” on the pitch after their FA Cup triumph.

Footage from Wembley shows the striker, whose two goals helped his side see of Chelsea to win the silverware, take part in a passionate end-of-game celebration.

And it will only provide more hope for Gunners fans that their captain and world class talisman will sign a new contract with the club.

Aubameyang lifted the corner flag after FA Cup final and was joined by Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette.

So he covered it with Pepe's Arsenal shirt, hoisted it in the air and screamed: “London is f***ing red”.

  • ROMA RUMOURS

Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Chelsea’s Willian on a free after he rejected the final offer of a contract from the Blues.

But there are still hurdles to be cleared before agreement can be reached with the Brazilian, who turns 32 on Sunday.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keen to sign the winger on a three-year deal.

But that is dependent on Henrikh Mkhitaryan not returning from his loan at Roma.

And Arteta also needs to overcome fears about the player’s age and the club becoming too reliant on agent Kia Joorabchian.

  • MAG LIGHT

Manchester United are reportedly close to signing Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes for £27million.

The Brazilian was also on Arsenal’s radar but it appears the Red Devils have pipped them to it.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to sign a long-term centre-back partner for Harry Maguire.

And it looks like they will soon have one in the shape of the 22-year-old, according to Italian outlet Napoli Magazine.

Gabriel is expected to leave Lille in the coming weeks, with the Ligue 1 club’s owner Gerard Lopez admitting as much.

He recently told L’Equipe: “With Gabriel, we are talking and we’ve given him an exit pass. He will choose his club this week.”

  • MORNING, ARSENAL FANS

The Gunners will have to offload Roma loanee Henrikh Mkhitaryan to tie up the free transfer signing of Chelsea winger Willian.

The Brazil star, 32 next Sunday,, would get the three-year contract Chelsea refused to give him.

But first Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta needs to overcome fears about Willian's age and the club becoming too reliant on agent Kia Joorabchian – plus sell Mkhitaryan after his stint in Serie A.

The Gunners have reportedly overtaken Napoli in the £27million hunt for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

It is also being suggested Arsenal remain interested in Barcelona's ex-Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

Yet the Brazil midfielder has had justa mediocre season on loan with Bayern Munich.

Likewise, the Gunners are said to still hold out hopes of recruiting “new Cristiano Ronaldo” Joelson Fernandes, 17, from Sporting Lisbon.

Meanwhile, The Athletic claim Mesut Ozil became an Arsenal outcast post-lockdown because he failed Arteta's tests of attitude and fitness.

They say the German midfielder, Matteo Guendouzi, Dani Ceballos and Ainsley Maitland-Niles were all told to improve by boss Arteta.

But Ozil, who was given time off when his wife had their daughter, showed little spark when returning to training.

  • SELL HENRIKH TO LAND WILLIAN

Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Chelsea’s Willian on a free.

Willian, who missed Chelsea’s FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal on Saturday injured, is definitely leaving Stamford Bridge after running down his contract.

The Blues offered him a two-year deal but would not agree to his request for an extra 12 months.

  • OZIL 'FAILED TEST' TO GET HIS PLACE BACK

Mesut Ozil became an Arsenal outcast post-lockdown because he failed Mikel Arteta's tests of attitude and fitness, according to The Athletic.

The German midfielder, Matteo Guendouzi, Dani Ceballos and Ainsley Maitland-Niles were said to have been told to improve by boss Arteta.

And Ozil appears to have been the stand-out flop as he did not play a single minute once the Premier League resumed.

The Athletic say Ozil was given time off when his wife had their daughter, but reportedly showed little spark when returning to training.

  • GUNNERS LEAD GAB RACE

Arsenal have overtaken Napoli in the hunt for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes, according to France Bleu Nord.

The 22-year-old Brazilian, who was even linked with Manchester United earlier in the summer, could cost around £27million.

Expecting his departure, Lille have signed 20-year-old Sven Botman from Ajax's reserve team.

  • WILLIAN 'WANTS' ARSENAL MOVE

Chelsea midfielder Willian reportedly wants to join Arsenal despite higher offers from the MLS.

The Mirror say the Brazil star, who will be 32 on Sunday, is after both the security of a new three-year deal and extending his stay in the Premier League.

Spurs were also in the running at one stage, but David Beckham's newly-formed Inter Miami were thought to have put together the largest pay package.

  • PRO DEAR! WILLIAN 'MOVE' LEAKED

WILLIAN'S transfer to Arsenal appears to have been confirmed in a leaked Pro Evo clip.

The Chelsea winger – who has rejected the club's latest offer of a new two-year deal – is shown wearing the Gunners kit in the seven-second video.

Arsenal have partnered with video game series Pro Evo – whose game rivals Fifa as the biggest on PS4 and Xbox.

The clip says “new signing” at the beginning and appears to show the 31-year-old Brazilian in Arsenal colours with “Willian” across the screen.

Arsenal tweeted a video earlier today showing what players can expect from the game set for release on September 15 – three days after the new Premier League season begins.

The leaked video suggests Willian will by then have completed his move from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates.

  • GUNNERS STILL PURSUING COUTINHO

Arsenal are still hungry to sign Barcelona's ex-Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho, according to reports.

The Brazil star, who's had a moderate season on loan for Bayern Munich, was linked with Chelsea earlier in the summer.

But the Gunners are making the running now – although it is claimed Coutinho has so far offered little encouragement for such a move.

  • GUNNERS STILL JOSTLING FOR JOELSON

Arsenal haven't given up on their hopes of signing Sporting Lisbon wonderkid Joelson Fernandes, according to reports.

The 17-year-old winger has been likened to Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

And Football.London write how despite Arsenal's move for Willian, Fernandes remains at the top of the shortlist as Mikel Arteta looks to the future.

He has a £40.8m release clause in his contract but Arsenal want to sign him for half of that.

  • AUBAMEYANG WANTS A MANE SIGNING

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants Arsenal to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.

The Gunners striker is yet to sign a new deal with the North Londoners and is said to want assurances over the club's ambition before he puts pen to paper.

And one man he would love to see join him at the Emirates is his former Borussia Dortmund teammate Dembele, according to French outlet Le10Sport.

The pair played together in Germany between 2016 and 2017.

French World Cup winner Dembele has struggled for game time at the Nou Camp this season and was recently linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in a swap deal with Neymar.

  • GIFT OF THE GABON

Arsenal have made their intentions to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang very clear by upping their contract offer to a whopping £300,000 per week, according to The Times.

The captain currently earns £200,000 per week plus an £80,000-a-week loyalty payment, and will receive a one-off £300,000 bonus for claiming more than 25 goals and assists this season.

The Times also claim the Gunners will learn whether Willian will accept their offer of a three-year deal once Chelsea have played their Champions League tie at Bayern Munich on Saturday.

  • BOUNCY BALL-OS

Dani Ceballos'' influence in the FA Cup final has been highlighted by an incredible touch map showing the Spaniard all over the pitch.

The 23-year-old midfielder – who has spent the season on loan from Real Madrid – starred in Arsenal's 2-1 triumph against Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday.

Two-goal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was named man of the match, but it was Ceballos who pulled the strings.

His touch map shows just how much he was involved in the game, as he touched the ball an impressive 72 times.

He attempted 53 passes, completing 45 – the most of any Arsenal player – with 22 of those successful passes coming in the opposition's half.

In addition to this, he won 53.3 per cent of his duels – making three tackles during the game as well as recovering possession on four occasions.
