WWE star Matt Riddle denies sexual assault claims but admits to cheating on wife with accuser

WWE star Matt Riddle has denied claims of sexual assault made against him – but admitted to cheating on his wife with the accuser.

The SmackDown star's lawyer acknowledged the claims last month – sayingCandy Cartwright was in fact stalking his client.

But Riddle, 34, has now admitted to having an affair with the woman – herself an independent wrestler.

Cartwright (pictured below) claims the incident occurred in 2018 as the pair rode in a van with some colleagues, who were asleep.

She alleges Riddle, who made his debut on SmackDown last month, propositioned her for sex and when she refused, he then began to threaten her.

She then states that she agreed to perform oral sex on him instead to get out of having sex with the 6ft 2in star.

After denying the claims at the time, Riddle has gone even further to refute the allegations of assault made against him.

In a video uploaded to social media, he said: "I never sexually assaulted you.

"The story about that band trip, the driver being asleep, and me forcing you to do stuff, 'hop on' or whatever…

"It’s a complete lie… It’s a fabricated story because you’re still mad.

"You know why you’re mad?

"Because yes, you’re right, we had an affair. You have plenty of evidence of that…

"And you know what? I never denied it – because it happened."

In the clip, Riddle went on to say he doesn't like to talk about his affair, as he "feels like c**p" for having done that to wife, Lisa.

He also claimed he "tried to end" the affair after becoming "depressed" by his actions.

Riddle continued: "Do I wanna talk about it? Do I really wanna share about it?

"No, it’s embarrassing because I feel like a real piece of crap cheating on my wife and doing that and now having to talk about it publicly but I have to…

"We had a relationship. We had a fling.

"I started to get sad and depressed because I was lying to my wife so much to hide what I was doing.

"I was lying to all my friends to all my friends because I didn’t want anybody to know.

"This is not something cool. I didn’t want to brag about it.

"I tried to end it. I told my wife about you and us. I tried to end it."

Riddle's lawyer claimed his accuser was stalking the WWE star after he tried to cut all contact and block her phone and on social media.

But she is then said to have attempted to get in touch with Riddle's friends and even other wrestling productions' social media accounts to reach him.

Speaking about the stalking claims, Riddle added: "At the end of the day, I’m not perfect.

"We did have an affair and I’m not happy about that.

"But I never sexually abused anybody, I never sexually assaulted anybody.

"When I wanted to get out of this 'relationship', out of this situation, she said no and she kept pursuing me and harassing me and stalking me.

"And then when she didn’t get her way, she used the Speak Out movement to try and ruin my career.

"Completely unacceptable."

His lawyer had previously stated: "The allegations by this independent female performer are completely false and another attempt to harass and humiliate Mr and Mrs Riddle and to try and tarnish their reputation in the community.

"We have been aware for the last two years of this performer stalking the Riddle family.

"In 2019, our firm had drafted a pleading against this performer to seek an injunction for cyberstalking in the Circuit Court for Orange County, Florida."
