Tonight's episode of Emmerdale (Friday 14 January) saw Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) reel at the revelation that Leanna Cavanagh (Mimi Slinger) was murdered by Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu).
In the process, the ITV soap dropped a big hint that his dad David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) would be returning to the village imminently to deal with the fall out.
After Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) revealed Meena was behind the murders of Leanna, Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale) and Ben Tucker (Simon Lennon), Jacob – grief-stricken – asked whether or not his dad knew.
Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) then confirmed that David was aware and assured Jacob that he and Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) would be back "as quick as they can."
After they were both involved in the bridge collapse during Super Soap Week in October, David and Victoria left the village to visit Victoria's stepmother Diane Sugden (Elizaeth Estensen) in Portugal.
While they were away, Meena continued to wreak havoc throughout the Dales.

Her murder spree was ultimately brought to an end after she kidnapped Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and her sister Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) and tried to hold them hostage in a remote barn.
Liam Cavanagh (Johnny McPherson) uncovered the unhinged nurse's plot in the nick of time. After discovering she was behind his beloved daughter's death, he chased Meena into the nearby forest hoping to get his revenge.
Although it's unclear what will happen to Meena and when David and Victoria will be back on our screens, fans of the soap can rest assured things will all come together soon.
During their time away from the soap, Matthew and Isabel were embroiled in a race row.
Reports were released in November that a mixed race actress in the soap had been upset by an "inappropriate comment" made during the filming of Super Soap Week.
Both actors denied any suggestion of racism, describing the alleged incident as a "misunderstanding." ITV took no formal action against Isabel or Matthew.
Despite not commenting on the individual case, an Emmerdale spokesperson told Digital Spy that the soap "has robust policies in place to deal with any allegations brought to our attention and take the appropriate steps."
